For the year 2009/10 the ISA allowances are changing during the year. Prior to October 2009, the allowance is £7200 rising to £10200 per person in April 2010 (October 2009 if you are aged 55 and over) or £20400 per married couple/civil partnership. Similary the cash ISA allowance will rise from currently £3600 to £5100 in April 2010 (October 2009 if you are aged 55 and over). Even if you have invested the full amount available for a cash ISA, there is still the same allowance available for an Investment ISA.

The great thing about ISAs is that all the growth and most of the income (except for a 10% tax credit on dividends) is tax free!
